New facilities operated in partnership with local Delivery Service Partners extend Amazon's last-mile delivery network to more Canadian customers

New facilities launch as Amazon hit its fastest speeds ever for Prime members in Canada last year–with more than 450 million items arriving the same or next day

As Amazon delivers at its fastest speeds ever for Prime members in Canada, the company is proud to announce the launch of two new facilities will help more customers living outside of major urban areas benefit from its last-mile delivery network.

Located in Lethbridge, Alberta and Owen Sound, Ontario, the facilities represent a newer business model for Amazon in Canada. The facilities are operated in partnership with two Delivery Services Partners, independent business owners who contract with Amazon to build and operate their own local package delivery service. Customer orders are sorted at nearby Amazon delivery stations and shipped by Amazon to the new sites, where they are received by Delivery Service Partners and loaded on to delivery vehicles for the final journey to customers’ doorsteps.

“My drivers and I are so proud of to be part of the local community. Our team in Lethbridge and the surrounding area are hearing positive feedback from local customers, who appreciate the dedication of our drivers and our commitment to supporting local businesses and charities,” said Aminat Popoola owner of RHAY Logistics, the Delivery Service Partner operating out of the Lethbridge exchange point.

The new facilities help participating Delivery Service Partners by expanding their delivery territories and providing amenities for drivers while enabling faster, more reliable delivery for customers. The new facility in Owen Sound measures more than 7,500 square feet and is located in the city’s industrial park, while the 20,000 square foot Lethbridge facility is in the city’s Churchill Industrial Park. The new facilities follow similar launches in Sarnia, Ontario and Cornwall, Ontario in 2025 and Kingston, Ontario in 2023.

“Amazon is committed to offering the fastest delivery speeds for our customers, and we are constantly innovating and investing in our local network, including in smaller cities and communities,” said Jasmin Begagic, Director, AMZL Canada. “We’re proud to work directly with our local Delivery Service Partners to introduce two new facilities that help us serve more customers more efficiently.”

The new facilities come as Amazon hit its fastest speeds ever for Prime members in Canada last year, with more than 450 million items arriving the same or next day. More than 20 million items are available for free Prime shipping in Canada, and more than 4,500 cities and towns are eligible for Prime free One-Day Delivery – including both Owen Sound and Lethbridge.
