Prime Day is when Prime members discover some of the best deals of the summer – and for the thousands of employees working at Amazon’s fulfilment centres, sortation centres and delivery stations across the country, it’s one of the most exciting times of the year.
For Amazon’s YVR3 fulfilment centre in New Westminster, British Columbia, Prime Day 2025 also provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the site’s landmark 10th anniversary.

Measuring 580,000 square feet, YVR3 is a traditional non-sortable fulfilment centre, specialized in the storage and fulfilment of large-format items, including furniture and outdoor equipment. It’s one of 11 Amazon operations sites in Greater Vancouver – although when it opened in 2015, it was only the second Amazon fulfilment centre in Western Canada.

On July 8, as Prime Day 2025 kicked off, the site organized a 10-year celebration event attended by Amazon Canada Vice President and Country Manager Eva Lorenz and Councillor Paul Minhas, the Acting Mayor of New Westminster. The celebration event highlighted the accomplishments of the site’s employees, including those celebrating their own 10-year anniversary at Amazon (also known as an Ama-versary).

For Garrett Shaw, a Senior Operations Manager at YVR3 who started out as a seasonal associate in 2015, Amazon has been a place to grow a rewarding career.

“Amazon has provided me with extraordinary opportunities for growth. I started on the Learning team, advancing from a seasonal trainer to a learning coordinator and eventually to a learning manager. This is where I discovered my first leadership principle: a passion for the growth and development of others,” he said. “Even after a decade, I wake up excited about the work we do here every day.”

Amazon Canada Vice President and Country Manager Eva Lorenz – who started her own journey at Amazon in 2004 – congratulated employees on their achievements at the company.

“Amazon is a great place to build a rewarding career, and the stories we’re hearing today demonstrate how for so many people, Amazon has been a place to build new skills and grow both personally and professionally,” she said.
Councillor Paul Minhas recognized Amazon’s broader economic impact in his remarks.

“Amazon has 10 years of being a vital part of New Westminster,” he said. “Over the past decade, Amazon has not only transformed the landscape of retail, but has also enriched our community in numerous ways – from creating thousands of jobs to supporting local businesses.”
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, which was in the midst of fulfilling thousands of customer orders as Prime Day kicked off.
