Pitt Meadows Day takes place every year on the first Saturday of June at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park. The all-day, family-friendly event attracts between 10,000 and 15,000 attendees who come to enjoy a parade, Main Stage entertainment, and activities for all ages. For the community of Pitt Meadows, it's one of the biggest days of the year — and for the Amazon team based just down the road, it's become a meaningful way to connect with the neighbours they serve every day.
Amazon first sponsored the event in 2022, not long after establishing operations in the area. What started as an initial sponsorship has grown into a deeper collaboration with the City of Pitt Meadows. This year, Amazon is participating as the event's Gold Sponsor and Parade Presenting Sponsor, contributing $9,000 in cash alongside roughly $5,000 in in-kind support — including the use of Amazon delivery vans in the parade, staff volunteers, access to the YXX1 facility parking lot to support event-day logistics, and a booth inside the arena where team members engage directly with community members.
Safety has been a particular focus of the sponsorship in recent years. Following the Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy in Vancouver last year, event organizers in Pitt Meadows made enhanced safety measures a priority for community gatherings. Amazon stepped in as a key sponsor of safety for Pitt Meadows Day, helping fund roadblocks along the parade route and contributing to a secure environment for families to enjoy the day. The City of Pitt Meadows has recognized Amazon's role in making the parade safer and more accessible for everyone attending.
On the day itself, Amazon team members from DVC4 will be on site, staffing the booth, participating in the parade, and welcoming attendees. Over the past several years, the booth has become a place where residents stop by to learn more about what Amazon does locally, ask questions about careers, and share feedback. The team has consistently received positive responses from community members who appreciate seeing Amazon actively involved in local events beyond its day-to-day operations.
The sponsorship reflects a broader commitment from Amazon's operations teams in British Columbia to invest in the communities where they operate. Since opening its fulfillment centre, YXX1, in Pitt Meadows in 2024 — an 825,000-square-foot facility that created local jobs and engaged more than 10 British Columbia- and Canada-based businesses in its construction and ongoing operations — Amazon has had a consistent presence in the community, whether through event sponsorships, volunteer efforts, or simply being a reliable neighbour.
