Amazon's delivery station in British Columbia, has donated $5,000 to BC Children's Hospital Foundation — including a $4,000 monetary donation and $1,000 in in-kind prizes for children — as part of a growing commitment to supporting pediatric healthcare in the province.
BC Children's Hospital Foundation supports pediatric healthcare across British Columbia, including cancer research and mental health programs for children. Amazon's Last Mile delivery network operates throughout the province, and this investment reflects a commitment to giving back to the families and communities the team serves every day.
"Our delivery network in BC is rooted in this community, and supporting a cause that directly serves local children and families felt like a natural fit," said Akiko Sugawara, Operations Manager at Amazon's DVV5 delivery station in Burnaby. "We wanted to go beyond day-to-day operations and show that Amazon cares about the communities we operate in — especially when it comes to pediatric healthcare and children's well-being."
On May 19, the DVV5 team visited BC Children's Hospital Foundation to assemble FIFA-themed craft kits ($1,500 value) for young patients, make thank-you calls to donors, and present the $4,000 donation and $1,000 value toys with a cheque presentation. The volunteer event brought together members of Amazon's BC delivery team to connect directly with a cause that serves local children and families.
Amazon's support will also be on display on Sunday, June 7, when BC Children's Hospital Foundation hosts its annual RBC Race for the Kids at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. The family fun run has a 40-year history and has raised more than $21 million to date, with more than 9,700 participants expected this year across Vancouver, Victoria, and other BC communities. Amazon is an in-kind sponsor, providing 100 prizes for the post-race "SPIN 2 WIN" prize wheel activity, including items like Rubik's cubes, card games, and age-neutral toys for children aged 3 to 12. Amazon's logo will appear on A-frame signs throughout the festival grounds.
Amazon's BC Last Mile team has supported BC Children's Hospital Foundation for two years through donations and volunteering. This year's sponsorship of the RBC Race for the Kids represents a deeper, more visible commitment to that ongoing relationship — and a chance to show up for BC families in a tangible and joyful way.
