Teammates visited Amazon’s 2.8 million square foot site in Calgary for a behind-the-scenes tour, friendly skills competition, and a game-winning assist for the Calgary Flames Foundation

The visit was just days after Amazon announced the expansion of Same-Day Delivery in Calgary, giving customers greater control over when their packages arrive throughout the day

On Monday, March 2, Amazon’s YYC4 fulfilment centre welcomed two special guests as Calgary Flames defenseman Zayne Parekh and right winger Matt Coronato joined the team for an afternoon celebrating faster Same-Day Delivery and the spirit of giving back to the local community.

The visit brought together hundreds of Amazon employees and representatives from the Calgary Flames Foundation for a high-energy look behind the scenes at one of Amazon’s largest Canadian fulfilment centres. Ward 12 City Councillor Mike Jamieson also joined in the fun, making the event a true celebration of Amazon’s community connections.

Surprise packages at YYC4
After getting a crash course in Amazon Robotics, Zayne and Matt got hands-on to pack customer orders being sent out for Same-Day Delivery. Amazon recently announced that it has added two new afternoon delivery windows for Prime members in Calgary.  Customers can now choose from four flexible delivery windows including:

  • Overnight delivery: Order by midnight and select delivery between 4 and 8 a.m.
  • NEW! Extended daytime delivery: Order by midnight and select delivery between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • NEW! Afternoon delivery: Order as late as 10:30 a.m. and select delivery between 2 and 6 p.m. (perfect for dinner preparations)
  • Evening delivery: Order by 1:30 p.m. and select delivery between 5 and 10 p.m.

Zayne and Matt autographed the boxes they packed and added stickers with a QR code with a special surprise for some lucky Calgary Flames fans.

To end the visit on a high note, Zayne and Matt helped Amazon present a donation to the Calgary Flames Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the lives of southern Albertans through health and wellness initiatives, education, and grassroots sports programming. The Calgary Flames Foundation is now an official Amazon charitable partner, and will receive donations of essential goods from YYC4 throughout the year.
