In celebration of Prime Monday Night Hockey and in partnership with the NHLPA, Hughes visited Amazon’s DVY7 delivery station in Langley on Wednesday, December 10, where he helped Amazon transport a major donation of essential items to the Langley Food Bank.
Supporting the Langley Food Bank
As part of Amazon’s commitment to strengthening the communities where employees live and work, Amazon donated hundreds of essential items to support families across Langley during the holiday season. Hughes, alongside local Amazon employees, helped load the donation into an Amazon delivery vehicle before hopping in to the passenger seat for the drive to the food bank.
When the van pulled up, Hughes was welcomed by a crowd of volunteers, community members, and food bank staff. The donation comes at a critical time of year, helping ensure families have access to food and essentials when they need it most.
Behind the Scenes at DVY7: The Final Mile of Holiday Deliveries
Hughes began his visit at DVY7 with a look into Amazon’s “last mile” - where orders are placed on delivery vehicles for the journey to customers’ doorsteps’.
From there, Hughes headed to the loading dock, where he boarded the van headed for the Langley Food Bank.
Q&A: Quinn Hughes
To close out the day, we sat down with Hughes for a quick Q&A about hockey, holiday traditions, and the importance of giving back to the community.
- Most memorable moment of your career so far? I’ve had a lot of memorable moments, and I am very thankful for the career I have had so far, but probably playing my brother Jack the first time, or my first NHL goal, first playoff game at Rogers Arena would be up there for me.
- Best gift you’ve ever received — or given? My brothers and my parents are really generous, and we try to do nice things for each other, especially around the holiday season.
- What do you love most about playing in Vancouver? It’s a beautiful city, but the people I have met here I would say is my favourite thing. I’ve developed some really close friendships and bonds and when I think of Vancouver, I think of some of those friendships and the opportunities I have had.
- What’s your favourite holiday tradition with your family? It’s a new one we started last year, so it’s not a tradition but we had 30-40 close friends come over on the 24th and that was a really fun night.
- If Amazon could deliver one holiday “superpower” to help you through the season, what would you pick and why? Maybe to fly? That would be cool. I could get places quicker than I usually do – that would be nice.
